System Settings >> Log Management

"Log Management" is used to configure log storage and automatic backup settings, you also can delete history records by hand.

Settings

1. Storage Status

Current storage status.

  1. "Current Storage Type": file-based version or database version.
  2. "Storage Path": monitored data storage path for WFilter file-based version.
  3. "Max Attachment Size": If file/email/web posting size exceeds the limit, only file name or email subject will be recorded.

2. Auto Backup Settings

  1. "Enable Auto Backup": enable Auto Backup or not.
  2. "Backup Options": this section is for automatic data purge and backup. Two backup types are supported:
    1. "backup and delete" -- backup before delete, a backup directory shall be configured.
    2. "delete directly" -- expired data will be deleted directly.
  3. "Backup Path": path of the backup directory, for example: "D:\backup".
  4. "Do Auto Log Mangement on": backup or purge will be run on this scheduled time.

3. Import History Records

Clicking "Import" to import backuped history data to WFilter.

  1. "Record Type": choose the record type you want to import. Unselect means all.
  2. "Backup Path": path of the backup files.
  3. "IP or Name": if you only want to import a certain computer's record history, type its name or ip in the "IP or Name". Leave it blank if you want to import all.

4. Delete Log History

You can delete history logs manually.

5. System Log and Operator Log

By clicking "System Log", you will be able to check the monitoring system events and log of WFilter operators.

Notice

  1. Both file-based storage and database storage are supported by WFilter.
  2. You can choose the database type during installation if you are using a database version.
  3. "Backup Path" is the absolute path. If the directory doesn't exist, a new folder will be created.
  4. Please set an suitable backup days considering your management needs and hardware capacities.
