Block Gnutella

Gnutella Windows clients include BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, Swapper, XoloX Ultra, LimeWire and Phex.

For example, BearShare lets you search, download, and share files with everyone on the global Gnutella network.

Gnutella2 has many Windows clients also. For example, Shareaza can connect to both eDonkey2000 and Gnutella network.

Gnutella Communication

BearShare use TCP port 6348 and port 6346 as its default login port. If the TCP port 6348 and 6346 are all blocked, then BearShare will failed to login.

Shareaza is similar with BearShare, but it use UDP port 6346 to download files.

How to block Gnutella?

Gnutella login port is only TCP port 6348 and port 6346, but Gnutella2 switchs port automatically, so you can't block them only by disable the ports in the firewall. And Gnutella has no central server, also can not block it by blocking server ip address. So the only way is using professional tools to block Gnutella.
